  1. PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

PROFESSOR

Qualifications

Applicants must

  1. Satisfy the academic qualifications for the rank of a Professorship.
  2. Have taught for a minimum of two (2) years as a Professor/Associate Professor and have a considerable number of years of teaching and research experience in a university.
  3. Have at least twenty (20) refereed publications as Associate Professor or must have a total of forty (40) publications since appointment as Lecturer.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Qualifications

Applicants must

  1. Satisfy the academic qualifications for the rank of Associate Professor.
  2. Have taught in a university or analogous institution for a minimum of five (5) years as Senior Lecturer.

EXPERIENCE

  1. Appointment to Professorship will be based on evidence of internationally recognised scholarship and expertise in the applicant’s field of practice, research, and teaching, with no less than five (5) years’ experience.
  2. Appointment to Associate Professorship grade will be based on evidence of outstanding and expertise in the applicant’s field of teaching and research with no less than five (5) years’ experience.
  • SENIOR LECTURERS/LECTURERS

Qualifications

  1. Applicants for Lecturer position must possess:
  2. A good First degree, (First or Second class) in the relevant subject.
  3. PhD with thesis in relevant areas of specializations; in addition to membership of professional bodies.
  4. Have at least Two (2) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in an analogous institution of higher learning.
  5. Have at least two (2) refereed publications in their areas of specialization.
  6. Applicants for Senior Lecturer position must possess:
  7. A PhD and must have served in the University or an analogous institution as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow/Senior Assistant Librarian for a minimum of Four (4) years.
  8.  A minimum of 10 peer reviewed publications from original research in the case of Senior Lecturer/Senior Assistant Librarian, and a minimum of 15 peer reviewed publications from original research in the case of a Senior Research Fellow. At least 1 paper must be sole authored and be the lead author in 2 papers.

Job Description and Responsibilities: Successful applicants shall be responsible for teaching and research in courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students research and undergraduate students project works and offer academic counselling to students.

NB: As per the Tertiary Education Policy, candidates with Certification in Education from the Post-Graduate Diploma Level stand a good advantage. Candidates who do not have such certification should be willing to acquire such within two (2) of employment.

  • REGISTRY (SENIOR MEMBERS NON-TEACHING)

DEPUTY REGISTRARS (For Academic Affairs, and General Administration and Human Resource Management Sections of the Registrar’s Office)

Qualifications

For appointment to the grade of Deputy Registrar, candidates must:

  • Possess at least a relevant Masters’ degree and/or equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in university administration as Senior Assistant Registrar/equivalent grade or similar position in an analogous institution.

OR

Have served in a relevant field in industry, commerce, or public service for a minimum of eleven (11) years’ post master’s degree qualification.

  • Possess a professional qualification for candidates who are appointed to professional or quasi-professional departments.
  • Attained the rank to which they are being appointed from an analogous institution.
  • Satisfy the criteria for appointment to that rank.
  • In addition, possession of relevant professional qualification in any functional area in management/administration shall be an added advantage
  • INTERNAL AUDIT

DIRECTOR, INTERNAL AUDIT

The Job:

The Director, Internal Auditor under the Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the internal audit of the accounts and financial transactions of the University.

Job Summary

  • The Internal Auditor is the Head of the Internal Audit Section and shall be responsible for the Vice-Chancellor for the following duties:
  • Ensuring the establishment and operation of an efficient and effective financial controlling system – determining the reliability and adequacy of accounting.
  • financial and operational controls in the University
  • Vetting all proposed expenditures to ensure compliance with laid-down internal controlling systems and other statutory requirements.
  •  Conducting periodic examination of the accounts of the University.
  •  Monitoring and ensuring that all expenditures incurred have been authorised and are within budgetary provisions.
  • Conducting periodic management audit and submitting reports to the Vice-Chancellor.
  • appraising the quality of performance of those carrying out assigned responsibilities.
  • Liaising with external auditors and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken on reported audit findings.
  • Submitting periodic audit reports on the activities of departments/units to the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Verifying procurements to ensure that they conform to laid-down procedures.

Qualifications

The person:

  • Must possess a good First Degree in Accounting and in addition a master’s degree (preferably in accounting/finance/audit) and
  • Should be a member of a recognised professional accountancy/auditing body.
  • Must have 15 years post-qualification experience with a minimum of 8 years qualification experience of managing financial activities in a large and dynamic organisation, 3 years of which should have been at strategic decision-making level.
  • Must have the final certificate of any professional accounting body, preferably ICA (GH), ACCA, ICMA, with at least five (5) years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Be above reproach, exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities and organizational skills.
  • Must have the capacity to motivate and direct staff.
  • Analytical, interpersonal, advanced numeracy and computer skills.

Tenure:

  • Prospective applicants should be able to serve a term of five (5) years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
  • Appointment is renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
  • LEGAL OFFICE

LEGAL OFFICER

The Office of the Legal Counsel shall, under the Vice-Chancellor, be responsible for providing legal counsel, advice and representation in all matters and proceedings of the University.

The successful applicant will be a member of the team and will assist the Legal Counsel in the discharge of the responsibilities of the Office of Legal Counsel.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Legal Counsel to provide legal advice on all University related matters.
  • Drafting, reviewing and interpretation of all agreements involving or concerning the University.
  • Representing or ensuring that the University is appropriately represented in all dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Attending Committee and other meetings.
  • Reviewing University activities to determine compliance with applicable law.
  • Discharging any other assignments that the Legal Counsel shall deem necessary.

Qualifications

Applicant must have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree
  • Master’s degree in relevant area
  • Professional law qualification and duly enrolled at the Bar to practice Law in Ghana
  • Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years relevant working experience after pupillage

Tenure

The appointment as Legal Officer shall normally be for six years, the first two years of which shall be regarded as probation period. The appointment shall be reviewed before the end of the sixth year and may normally be renewed for a period of up to three (3) years at a time.

  • SECURITY GUARDS (2)

GUARDS GRADE 1

Qualification

  1. Must possess the School Cert./GCE ‘O’ Level 5 credits/SSSCE 6 passes in subjects including English Language

And

  1. Must have served satisfactorily as a Guard Grade II for a minimum of 3 years in the University or a similar institution.    or
  2. Must have attained the rank of Corporal in the Police Service or equivalent status in the Armed Forces with a clean employment record. Or
  3. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with a recognized private security organization.
  • Candidates must submit a Police report.

All the appointments are full-time.
