The UESD Chapter of the Senior Staff Association of the Universities of Ghana, SSA-UoG has sworn into office its new set of Executive, at a short ceremony held in the Lecture Theatre 10 on Wednesday, 20th September, 2023.
The six-member Executive is being chaired by Mr. Kofi Payin Effraim of the University Relations Unit (URO). Other members of the Executive are; Vice-Chairman, Mr. Peter Baffour Awuah; Trustee, Mr. Eric Richardson Asiamah; Secretary, Mr. Michael Anaman; Women’s Commissioner; Secretary, Miss Paulina Okine and Asst. Secretary, Sitsofe Kponor.
They take over from Mr. Daniel Kofi Temeng Marfo and his team to serve a two-year term. The new Executive was sworn into office by the Chairman of the Transitional Committee Mr. Edward Twumasi Akrasi. He commended the Electoral Commission of SSA for successfully conducting a free and fair election and also the University community for its support.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Effraim promised to improve the welfare of its members and implement policies that would maximize the union’s financial gains.
The Chairman for the occasion was the Director of the Directorate of Physical Development and Estate Management, Ing. Isaac Abbam. He encouraged the union to continue with the good work of ensuring unity, peace, and tranquility within it.
Dr. Abbam acknowledged Senior Staff as the backbone of manpower in tertiary institutions and tasked the executives to liaise with their counterparts at the national level on the national negotiation table to improve service conditions for members. Present were representatives from the Ghana Association of University Administrators, GAUA, UESD Management, Junior Staff, and some students.
