Five Lecturers from the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), and another from the Mt. Mary College of Education, Somanya in the Eastern Region have jointly won a grant of Five Hundred Thousand Cedis (500,000) from the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI).
The grant is being administered under the new partnership of the Science Granting Council Initiative (SGCI) which provides funds to support research and evidence-based policies.
The Principal Investigator is Dr. Kwame B. Bour, lecturer at the Department of Applied Economics, and Dr. Kwaku Adu is the Co-Principal Investigator. The other grant winners are; Dr Eunice Stella Nyarko, Dr. Adwoa Oforiwa Antwi and Dr. Kwame Senu, all at the Department of Built Environment in the School of the School of Sustainable Development (SSD). The sixth member of the team is Madam Patience Farko Kpeyivor, Mt. Mary College of Education, Somanya.
The six, are expected to undertake an eighteen (18) months project titled: ‘Enhancing financial inclusivity for the women in the informal sector through access to financial technology systems: The case of Oti, Western North, and Upper West Region’. In an interview, the Principal Investigator, Dr. Bour expressed excitement about the grant and was optimistic about the outcome of the project
