The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya, Eastern has held the 2025 edition of its HOPE Roadshow, a flagship event that champions the University’s core values of Honesty, Opportunity, Perseverance, and Enterprise (HOPE). This year’s theme, “Hope in Action: Honesty the Key to Success,” focuses on the importance of honesty in achieving academic, professional, and personal growth.
The two-day event, brought together students, staff, and alumni for a series of panel discussions, exhibitions, mentorship sessions, interactive workshops, and student-staff engagements. The programme aimed to inspire participants to embody the University’s core values in their daily lives.
In his opening remarks, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Wiafe Debrah highlighted the significance of HOPE in shaping academic integrity, leadership, and personal growth. “Honesty is the foundation of integrity in academia, leadership, and our daily lives,” he emphasised.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson delivered a keynote address, stressing the importance of producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also ethical and reliable. He urged students to uphold the values of the University, citing an instance where a corporate leader acknowledged the importance of training graduates with integrity.
The event featured breakout sessions for different categories of staff and students, moderated by UESD faculty and staff members. Topics included fostering a culture of honesty, professional ethics, honest communication, teamwork, and career development. Alumni shared their experiences with level 100 students, offering guidance on navigating academic life.
The second day of the session focused on teaching staff and continuing students, exploring topics such as adding honesty to the teaching curriculum, creating a safe space for honest views, and honesty in teamwork and collaboration.
Overall, the 2025 HOPE Roadshow was a resounding success, inspiring participants to embody the University’s commitment core values and promoting a culture of honesty, integrity, and excellence.
