The Bucknell University of the United States of America, USA, is set to partner with the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD in areas of international student cooperation, collaboration and exchange programme. This was disclosed during a discussion on December 22, 2023, in the UESD Council Chamber, between the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UESD, Prof. Edward Wiafe-Debrah, and the Director of Bucknell University’s Office of Global and Off-Campus Education, Dr. Stephen Appiah-Padi.
Upon welcoming Dr. Appiah-Padi to the UESD campus, Prof. Wiafe Debrah walked him through the University’s goal and vision, emphasising the value of environmental protection. He also informed the guest about the Community Development Challenge projects that UESD is working on, all of which are intended to teach teenagers the value of environmental preservation and project reuse or recycling. He also made mention of the Community Based Experiential Learning Programme, CoBEL and the University’s Sustainable Development Conference.
The two further discussed the importance of international education, exchange programmes and the role they play in cultural diversity and the development of a nation. The other areas included data sharing, research collaboration, and staff training on international education and its importance, amongst others. The two institutions will at a later date sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU to formalise working relations between them.
Present at the meeting were the Director at the Research Innovations and Consultancy Unit (RICU) and some Senior Members.
