THINK Network Induction and ESICD Funding for UESD Hub

In response to a call for concept notes under the British Council’s Enterprise Support and Incubation Curriculum Development (ESICD) Project, the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), applied and subsequently won a grant to establish an innovation hub. This accomplishment was formally acknowledged during the Tertiary Hubs for Innovation and Knowledge (THINK) Network Induction Programme held on October 22, 2024, at the University of Ghana Business School Innovation Hub (UGBS Nest). The event gathered leaders from Ghana’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), private sector representatives, government bodies, and the British Council to advance an ecosystem of entrepreneurship within HEIs.

As part of the initiative, the British Council awarded £4,000 each to four institutions, including UESD, to support the establishment of innovation hubs on their campuses. These hubs are designed to foster student-driven entrepreneurship by providing essential resources, mentorship, and funding to transform innovative ideas into sustainable businesses.

The UESD Innovation Hub, in particular, aims to serve as an incubator for early-stage student ventures, reinforcing Ghana’s mission to nurture a new generation of entrepreneurs and strengthen its innovation landscape. The THINK Network, with the support of the British Council and the UGBS Nest, played an essential role with this award.
