UNIVERSITY OF ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR
OUR UNIVERSITY IS ONE YEAR TODAY!!!!
Praise the Lord; Praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice.
And give Him the glory great things He has done.
And here we are, it is already ONE YEAR. Ebenezer, that’s how far God has brought the University of Environment and Sustainable Development. Is it just beginning?
On the 5th August 2020, before an enthusiastic crowd the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo commissioned the UNIVERSITY OF ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
It was a delight for the birth of the first fully public University in the Eastern region of Ghana. The joy and excitement of pioneering work in the University over-shadowed the tasks ahead, the tasks of the unknown, and the journey into the unknown.
Some are 80 years, others 62 years, 10 years, and so on. But we are ONE YEAR.
One may ask “have all these happened in ONE YEAR?” I think and say YES, they have. By the selfless nature, commitment and utmost dedication by all staff towards our mandate, we have got to where we are. With more of such we hope to
do more to get more. Unity of purpose, tenacity, sacrifice, commitment, camaraderie would get us through the next year, and the next year, and the years ahead.
APPRECIATION
I wish, on my own behalf and that of the Management Committee, to congratulate all staff for their sacrifices, dedication, commitment, and selflessness among others towards achieving our mandate. Our HOPE to produce graduates of HOPE would bring HOPE to our nation and the world. It is just a matter of focus and time. We have all contributed variously to build this University, and we acknowledge all contributions. You understood and stood with us in critical times. I urge you to continue and do more.
CRITICAL TIMES AHEAD
We may go through storms, valleys, and deep waters. But let’s stand stronger together because in unity there is strength. Let’s create an atmosphere where the potential of each and everyone is explored to the good of the growth and development of our great institution. It would take no one but us. Let’s do it. Let us release ourselves towards achieving our mandate and vision.
LOOKING FORWARD – POLICIES AND STRATEGIC PLAN
Soon Management would come out with policies designed to assist us run the University. These policies would receive Union input before implementation. There is also a committee in place working on our Strategic Plan, after which the various Unions would be invited to review and make the necessary input for a final document. Let uss remember we make no internally generated funds (IGFs) so we may find ourselves in financial difficulties for now. Management is aware, and all the necessary efforts are being made to bring us out.
THE SECOND PHASE OF THE UNIVERSITY PROJECT TO BEGIN
The Second Phase of the University’s infrastructure is scheduled to begin this month, all things being equal, for sod for its commencement has already been cut. In this Phase, we are getting a Lecture Block with a Library, a Laboratory Block, a School Administration Block, Residential Accommodation, Recreational Facilities, and some other works including asphalting of the campus road network. Other projects would come outside those from the government.
A HAPPY BIRTHDAY, UESD
I would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors and collaborators over the ONE YEAR, and call on others to be part of us.
We need to write our footprints in the in the sands of time, so we can one day say “I WAS ONE OF THEM”.
On this day I wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL OF US Three happy cheers to us, we are one.
To God be all the glory for the great things He has done.
UESD WILL SUCCEED! UESD WILL SUCCEED!! UESD WILL SUCCEED!!!!
God bless our homeland Ghana, and make our nation great and strong.
