BAFFOUR AWUAH KWABI (DIRECTOR OF FINANCE)

Mr. Baffour Awuah Kwabi is the foundation Director of Finance at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD). He studied at the prestigious Emile Woolf College in London where he completed his studies as a Chartered Accountant. He holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Ghana Business School. He obtained his GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Levels at Opoku Ware School, Kumasi. He has extensive knowledge of Sage Accounting Software, Integrated Tertiary Software (ITS), and QuickBooks Pro.

Mr. Kwabi has over twenty (20) years of working experience as a professional Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has managed financial projects from inception to completion in various institutions including: Adomako Basoah & Co., London; MGI Hydefynn & Osei, Chartered Accountants; The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC); African Concrete Products Company; Cold Temperatures Limited, all in Ghana.

Mr. Kwabi, before his appointment at UESD was the First College Finance Officer at the College of Education, UG. He served in various roles for over seventeen (17) years at UG which include: Head of Student Accounts, Senior Accountant at the Institute of Continuing & Distance Education, and Finance Officer at the College of Education. He has also served on various committees and unions including: Council Member, UG; President, Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), Legon Branch; and Chairman of several committees.

Among Mr. Kwabi’s achievements include his prudent financial management in the recovery of a significant amount for the University of Ghana which earned him a citation and a cash donation from the Vice-Chancellor.  He was part of the team that initiated the renovation of all the Regional Centers of UG. Moreso, he facilitated the setting up of the School of Education and Leadership and assisted in providing the financial resources to support the distance education programme. He has attended several conferences and presented the following papers: ‘Public Financial Management’ for staff of the National Youth Authority at the University of Ghana; ‘Public Financial Management Act 2016, (Act 921)’ for Accounting Officers, the University of Ghana Learning Centres (UGLCs) Kumasi; ‘Strategyand Financial Planning’, School of Education and Leadership at Mensvic Hotel, Accra; and ‘Linking the Strategic Plan to the Budget’ at Volta Serene Hotel, Ho. As part of his educational trips, he has visited the University of South Africa, the University of Cape Town, University of Leicester, UK among others.

Mr. Kwabi is married to Elaine and blessed with three children. In his leisure time, Baffour enjoys exercising, listening to music, watching movies, sightseeing, and relaxing with family and friends.
