Prof. Nyarko-Sampson Champions Clean Energy Transition at Renewable Energy Summit

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, says as the world faces the pressing challenges of climate change, energy, and sustainability, it is crucial to harness the power of renewable energy to build resilient economies and enhance livelihoods.

He was speaking at a Renewable Energy Summit, held at the Auditorium, Multipurpose Building of the University, which brought together experts, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on the future of renewable energy and its critical role in achieving sustainable development. It was on the theme, Powering the Future: Transforming COP 29 Pledges into Renewable Energy Action, and organised by 350, Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in the energy sector.

Prof. Nyarko-Sampson noted that the summit provides an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, fostering collaborations, and exploring solutions to accelerate the energy transition. He highlighted UESD’s commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in renewable energy, aligning with both national and global efforts to promote clean, affordable, and sustainable energy sources.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the involvement of young people in renewable energy discussions, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged participants to actively engage, network, and seize the opportunity to learn from experts in the field. He underscored the importance of collective efforts in building a future powered by clean energy, expressing confidence that the knowledge shared at the summit would leave a lasting impact on communities both locally and globally.
