Hammond Oppong Kwarteng (Ph.D.) is the Deputy Registrar at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD). He holds Ph.D. International Conflict Management, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Accra; MPhil Human Rights, University of Education, Winneba; B.Ed. Educational Psychology, University of Cape Coast; Professional Certificate, Executive Mastery in Organisational Development and Appreciative Leadership, by Community College of Organisational Development (CCOD), Catholic University College of Ghana (CUCG), and Institute of Organisational Development (IOD), USA; a Chartered Professional Administrator (ChPA), Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana (CIAMC); Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution by the Marian Conflict Resolution Centre, CUCG, Fiapre, and trained as Paralegal by International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ghana.
Dr. Oppong Kwarteng served as a Senior Assistant Registrar in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and a member of the UESD’s Governing Council as the representative of Convocation (Non-Teaching). He also served at CUCG in the following positions: Senior Assistant Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor; Head, University Relations and Publicity Unit; Coordinator, CUCG-UCC affiliated programmes; Assistant Registrar in charge of Examinations; member, Governing Council for two consecutive terms as the representative of Convocation (Non-Teaching); and Associate Member, CIAMC.
Dr. Oppong Kwarteng also worked with the Department of Children of the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs (now the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection) and served in various capacities namely: Regional Director, Department of Children, Brong-Ahafo Region; Information Officer, Department of Children, Accra; Assistant Regional Coordinator, Ghana National Commission on Children, Brong-Ahafo Region.
Dr. Oppong Kwarteng has considerable years of teaching experience from Roman Catholic Primary School, Suma Ahenkro; Methodist Senior Technical Senior High School, Berekum, and a Senior Tutor at the UCC Centre for Continuing Education, Sunyani all in the Bono Region. He is the founding President of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA), UESD.
His research interests include Human Rights, Peace, and Security, Conflict Management, Gender, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He is a practicing Catholic and a member of the Catholic Mens’ Society.
Hammond is married to Anastasia and they are blessed with seven children. His pastimes are reading and driving.
