BSc. Urban Planning and Development

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

  1. SSCE

Credit Passes (A-D) in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies and any three elective subjects which should include at least one of the following: Elective Mathematics; Biology; Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Geography, Building Construction, Technical Drawing and Woodwork with aggregate score of 24 or better.

  1. WASSCE Applicants

At least a credit (A1-C6) in core English, core Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies and any three elective subjects which should include at least one of the following: Elective Mathematics; Biology; Chemistry, Physics, Economics; Geography, Building Construction, Technical Drawing and Woodwork with an aggregate score of 36 or better.

Visual Art Applicants must possess credit in any ONE of these subjects in addition to their course areas: Elective Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

  1. A LEVEL Certificate Applicants

Five credits (including English Language, Mathematics, a General Arts subject and a Science subject) in the WAEC General Certificate of Education (GCE/WASC) Ordinary Level Examination; and 3 passes at the Advanced Level of the GCE is a requirement. One of the Advanced Level passes should be a grade D or better. A pass in General Paper must also be obtained.

  1. General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Holders

Applicants must obtain passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics plus any three elective subjects would be eligible for admission into level 100.

  • Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Holders

Applicants with full Diploma in ABCE must have credit passes in five (5) subjects including; English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination, SSSCE or WASSCE. Applicants may be considered for admission at Level 200 of a degree programme.

  • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)

 These applicants must

  • Possess Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds, and other authorized awarding bodies in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II in lieu of passes in English and Mathematics.
  • Have NABPTEX certificate II in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and Mathematics.
  • Possess a National Certificate II qualification in Competency Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF).
  • Note: Those with NABPTEX/TVET qualifications will have to pass an entrance examination and an interview conducted by the school to qualify them to Level 100 of the degree programme.
  • CTVET

Credit Passes or better in three (3) core subjects namely; English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies and must possess three (3) credit passes or better in relevant elective subjects

  • HND/Diploma Applicants

HND holders (Second Class) with relevant background may be admitted in Second Year of the programme after passing an interview, while HND First Class may be considered for admission without an interview. Two years Diploma holders (Least Second Class) from recognised Universities may be admitted into second year while three years Diploma with distinction may be admitted into third year of the programme without interview.

  1. B.Ed. JHS Education (Technical)

Applicants must have first degree in Technical Educationand must pass an entrance written examination and a selection interview. If successful, the applicant will be placed at the appropriate level (either level 200 or 300).

  • Mature Applicants

Mature Applicants must have attained the age of 25years or above with passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/O’Level Mathematics and English and/or relevant working experience, and must also pass a written examination and an interview conducted by the School.

  • Foreign Students

Foreign students may be admitted on the basis of qualification from their home country for which the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) shall determine equivalence. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
