About IPO

The International Programmes Office of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development was established to manage and coordinate global partnerships, exchange programmes, and international staff and student recruitment and services. The Office offers a variety of services to international students and scholars and ensures their welfare and security. The IPO coordinates the recruitment of international students and scholars for UESD as well as all issues and programmes relating to international education.

The aims of the IPO are to:

• oversee the recruitment of international students and staff and provide them with guidance and support services through every stage of their educational journey; from application to opportunities after studying;

• promote staff and student exchange programmes;
• represent the University at meetings for planning cultural agreements;
• arrange adequate guidance and counselling facilities for all international students;
• initiate and establish international partnerships for teaching, learning and research;
• map and identify relevant opportunities for UESD in the international space;
• provide a culturally balanced and integrated environment to improve students’ experience;
• create a platform for networking for students and employees of the University with relevant actors within national and international organizations and NGOs, with a global scope in focus;
• reinforce the international prestige and recognition of the UESD as well as increase its visibility by transferring experience, contacts and success stories;
• promote gender equity, inclusion and diversity in international student enrolments as well as faculty and staff appointments.

 Services of the International Programmes Office to International Students and Staff

• Assisting international scholars and students with recruitment, admissions and orientation;
• Providing immigration support services. The IPO ensures that UESD is compliant with its immigration responsibilities by providing the needed support to all current and potential international students and staff in their travelling and visa information; immigration or permit acquisition and renewals.  The Office is always ready to support international students in their immigration challenges.
• Facilitation of study abroad activities and student exchange programmes;
• Offering cultural integration programs and language support;
• Assisting with accommodation, health insurance, and welfare services;
• Extra-Curricular Activities. The IPO coordinates the formation of international student clubs, social activities and other resources for their general welfare;
• General Support Services.
