A Rocha Ghana Launches Awards for Best Nature Conservation Graduate at UESD

At the 5th Commencement Lecture of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), A Rocha Ghana, a leading environmental Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), launched an award scheme to honour the best graduating student in B.Sc. Nature Conservation and Management. This initiative aims to motivate students and foster greater interest in environmental advocacy and sustainability.

The award package includes a cash prize, a certificate, and a three-month attachment opportunity at any A Rocha Ghana office across the country.

The inauguration of the award was jointly conducted by the National Director of A Rocha Ghana, Dr. Seth Appiah Kubi, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor of UESD, Prof. Edward Wiafe Debrah, at the University’s Auditorium, Multipurpose Building.

Delivering the commencement lecture on “Forests for the Future: Strategies for Addressing Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss, and Sustainable Development in Ghana,” Dr. Appiah Kubi revealed that this is the second award the NGO has launched at an academic institution. He emphasised A Rocha Ghana’s commitment to enhancing environmental sustainability through pragmatic interventions aimed at improving human life and survival.

The award scheme is set to run for ten years, with an option for renewal.

Prof. Wiafe Debrah expressed gratitude for the establishment of the award and urged other organisations to follow A Rocha Ghana’s example. He reaffirmed UESD’s dedication to managing and sustaining such initiatives for the benefit of students and national development.
