The acting Dean of Students of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Dr. (Mrs) Daniella Delali Sedegah has cautioned students of the University to be on their best behaviour as they partake in the maiden SRC week activities.
This is because the result of the events will determine the fate of subsequent ones. Dr. (Mrs) Sedegah was addressing the pioneer students at the launch of the University’s SRC week celebrations at its Multipurpose Auditorium on the theme: ‘THE BIRTH OF UESD, THE NEW REVOLUTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT.’ It was attended by the students and other administrative staff of the University.
Dr. Mrs Sedegah said, as pioneer students, they are writing their testimonial on a plain sheet of paper, and if the programme becomes a success, it will attract the attention of the authorities to get interested in their activities.
She urged them to comport themselves and avoid engaging in unruly behaviour and encouraged them to have fun and not skip lectures during the week-long celebrations.
Dr. (Mrs) Sedegah commended the executives of the SRC for putting together the programme.
The Vice-President of the SRC, Miss Nana Abena Kyerewa Gyamfi, in an address explained that the theme for the celebration,’‘THE BIRTH OF UESD, THE NEW REVOLUTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT’ was inspired by the name of “this noble institution, the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD”. Adding that, “it is a privilege for us as pioneer students to be nurtured with the core values of Honesty, Opportunities, Perseverance and Enterprising, H.O.P.E to help sustain and revive the environment”.
She expressed appreciation to the Dean of students and her team for the guidance and also thanked her colleagues for supporting the executives in the running of affairs since they assumed office. She encouraged her fellow students to actively partake in the programme lined up for the period.
The programmes lined up for the SRC week celebration are: a talk show on the topic; ‘Balancing Academic Life with Relationship’, movie and jams night, sporting activities and gaming tournament, variety show, jams and dinner. It will be climaxed with a thanksgiving service and fundraising on Sunday, 19th September, 2021.
The students held a bon fire night after the launch.
