EXTRACTS OF ACT 898

Officially establishing the university, The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) Act, 2015 (Act 898):

Section 1(1) stipulates – Establishment of UESD

There is established by this Act a body corporate with perpetual succession to be known as the University of Environment and Sustainable Development.

Section 2(1) stipulates – Aims of the University

The aims of the University are to provide higher education, disseminate knowledge related to development in environment and agrobusiness education, undertake research and foster relationships with persons outside the institution…

Section 3 stipulates – Campuses of the University

The University shall be established in Somanya with campuses in Donkorkrom and any other place as the Council may determine.

Section 4(1) stipulates – Award of Degrees

Without limiting its other powers, the University shall have power to award its own degrees including honorary degrees, diplomas and certificates.
