A new set of executives for the UESD Chapter of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has been sworn into office. The five-member Executive team includes Ms. Cynthia Oduro, Assistant Registrar with RICU as the President, and Mr. Sampson Atiako Amponsah, Assistant Registrar at the Office of the Deputy Registrar, as Secretary.
The new team succeeds the pioneer Executive led by Dr. Hammond Oppong Kwarteng, which served for three years. During a brief ceremony attended by members in the Auditorium Multi-Purpose Building, the new Executives took the Oath of Office administered by the Registrar, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyepong. The Registrar congratulated them and urged them to be united in their activities, also appealing to the larger body to provide them with the necessary support for success.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Oduro, who was the immediate past Secretary of the Association, thanked members for electing them into office. She shared the team’s vision for the next two years, which includes: intensifying the organisation of Continuous Professional Development Programmes to enhance members’ skills and competencies, strengthening and establishing statutory committees of the association, promoting women’s development, ensuring sustainable financial growth and investment, launching a health and wellness initiative, and engaging in community and social responsibility programmes. She called on members to join in this vision and contribute their collective talents and experiences.
Before the swearing-in ceremony, the outgoing team presented its audited financial statements to the assembly and discussed matters arising.
The other members of the incoming team are: Mr. Raymond Akusaki, Assistant Internal Auditor, as Vice-President; Mr. Prince Anarfi, Junior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs and Records, as Assistant Secretary; and Mr. Michael Osei-Owusu, Payroll Finance Department, as Treasurer.
