Rev. Minister Praises UESD’s Remarkable Growth Over the Past Four Years

The Presiding Minister of the Akuse Calvary Congregation of the Methodist Church, Reverend Francis Darko Asare, has stressed the importance of thanksgiving in all situations. He noted that the management, staff, and students of the University have every reason to be thankful for the significant transformation it has undergone in the past four years.

Rev. Asare made these remarks during his sermon at the sixth joint thanksgiving service of the University and the University Christian Fellowship, UCF (primarily attended by students). The service marked the end of the 2023/24 academic year and the beginning of the examination week. It also signified the last thanksgiving service that some of the pioneer students will celebrate on campus.

The thanksgiving service, which also included a communion, focused on the text from Psalm 126:2-3: “The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.”

Rev. Asare noted that the campus of UESD was barren four years ago, but it is now filled with people and life. This transformation has benefited both the University community and the wider Somanya community. He emphasised that acknowledging God should occur not only in good times but also during challenging periods.

Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, Vice-Chancellor (UESD)

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, expressed gratitude for the significant changes at the University. He was particularly appreciative of the Level 400 students who have persevered until the end of their academic journey on campus. He referred to them as the “firstborns” of UESD, predicting that they would soon crown their efforts with success and become trailblazers for UESD worldwide. The Vice-Chancellor was confident that they would embody the core values of Honesty, Opportunity, Perseverance, and Entrepreneurship (HOPE) wherever they go. The Registrar, Mrs. Mary Abena Agyapong was the Liturgist.
