Rahmat Quaigrane Duker is an early career lecturer at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Ghana. She holds a PhD in Oceanography and Limnology. Her research is related to assessing the effects of chemical pollution on brackish and freshwater ecosystems. Through her engagements, she has developed skills in water quality assessment and monitoring, aquatic ecotoxicology, sediment pollution, monitoring network and environmental social psychology. She has been on projects in the Netherlands, France and Ghana, where her expertise was highly recommended. These projects aimed at assessing the environmental risks of contaminants and other ecological stressors related to human health and global change by using lab and semi-field experiments. Before this, she served as a Project Coordinator for the Centre for Environmental Impact Analysis for four years, where she made substantial contributions towards initiatives targeted at environmentally friendly gold mining in Ghana. She has an excellent connection with the youth and has received several scholarships including the Netherlands Fellowship Programme. She is a passionate supporter of environmental and aquatic issues and believes that it is our duty as humans to take care of our home planet.
